VJHS Pirate Players Compete at State

Congratulations to the Vidor Junior High Junior Pirate Players drama team, which had 16 students qualify to compete at the Educational Drama Association's State contest held on Saturday, May 6.
The 16 students that qualified and competed at this contest are:

Clarissa Montondon                    Devany Davis
Grace Dollinger                           Kailynn Rodriguez
Lexi Collier                                  Lila Mansfield
Remi Soderholm                         Shaelynn Binkley
Taylor Light                                 Teyla Swallow

 

The team won First Place, accumulating 43 Superior ratings, 25 Excellent ratings, and 3 Good ratings for the day. This earned the team the highest averaged score of the day, 70.28 out of a possible perfect score of 80.


The Pirate Players had 3 students who received certificates for being qualified in all 8 events at the State meet. Those students were: Shaelynn Binkley, Cambralynn Decker and Brynlee Morgan.

 

Shaelynn Binkley, Drama Club President, was the only student at state who qualified in all 8 events and received a special recognition medal called the " Super Star" medal for earning 8 Superior ratings in all 8 events the day.
 

Best Dressed Performers for the day (as voted on by the drama team members) were:
 

7th Grade- Grace Dollinger & Blaze Williams
8th Grade: Cambralynn Decker.
